Roy Leyva |
| |
Roy Leyva is one of Massachusetts top ranking anglers, both in fresh water and saltwater alike. Leyva, who came from a long line of
Cuban fishermen, was taught by his parents how to fish at an early age. Growing up in Boston's Mission Hill, Leyva took to fishing and not to street life.
Now, besides spending most of his free time on the water, he also is an instructor for the Fishing Academy, a non-profit organization that takes underprivileged
kids off the streets and out fishing. He has taken the title as Mass Wildlife's Angler of the Year twice, in both 2004 and 2007.
He is currently one species away from
being the first angler in the state to catch a trophy pin fish in every species. |
